COACHING DEFINED

Computer Class

Coaching is encouragement.  Coaching is preparing someone to be their best self in a given task.  Coaching is providing resources necessary to take someone to the ‘next level’ of accomplishment.  As with any coach, sports or otherwise, ETC meets with individuals in consultation to listen, to assess the challenge(s), and to recommend solution(s).  The solution(s) may be to instruct, and/or to find resources that resolve the issue, and/or to simply provide guidance.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure!”

Aeronia L. Poole (Coach Poole) is an educational technologist with years of experience implementing technology in corporations and schools. She  began her instructional career as a Sr. Office Systems Analyst on Capitol Hill providing personalized instruction to Senators and legislative staff in the use of technology tools.  She left the corporate workplace to start a family and manage the family business.

After her children were of school age, she transitioned to schools and was inspired to earn a Master’s Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Integrating Technology in Schools.  Coach Poole has worked in all teaching environments: public, private, Homebound, charter, and Title I schools.  She is unapologetic in her love of middle-schoolers, also serving 30+ years as a Jr. & Sr. Sunday School teacher at her church in Northern Virginia. It has been her life’s work to mentor and instill in young people a love for life-long learning and to encourage their self-confidence.

resident of North Carolina since 2016, Coach Poole has joined several  Charlotte technology initiatives like the Girls STEM Summit at Johnson C. Smith University, where she facilitated workshops designed for Middle School girls to explore robotic engineering using the hands-on Lego Mindstorms EV3 taskbot; and has presented STEAM tools at the Charlotte Convention Center CMS Technology Fair.  Since moving to the Charlotte metro, Coach Poole brought her years of experience as a Technology Facilitator to Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools as a Career Technology Educator.  She is published under a collaborative effort as a member of the Discovery Education Teacher’s Advisory Council.  She is now taking her expertise on the road, actively volunteering her technology skills to the Charlotte Section of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), serving on the Media & Communications Committee (Webmaster & Social Media); Bethune-Height Recognition Program (BHRP) Team Leader, serving as the NC State Coalition Virtual BHRP Program Chair; and now entrepreneurship.

As the owner and CEO of EdTech Coaching, LLC, her mission is to “coach life skills using technology, to underserved populations.”  She is a member of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE); holds a Technology Engineering and Design teaching license; has several Computer Science certifications in Computer Science Discoveries (Code.org) and Project Lead the Way (PLTW); and is a teen coding instructor at a local community college.  Coach Poole’s passion as an educational technologist desires to promote STEAM literacy in generational communities.  It is her desire to see multiple family members participate in Coding, After-School Makerspaces, Robotic Engineering programs, and other Computer Science-related tools.  She understands first-hand the need to coach ‘life-long learners’ through rapidly emerging technologies.  STEAM is not just for the young!

Coach Poole’s favorite quote is Marianne Williamson’s “Our Deepest Fear”, which is her life mantra shared with young people:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure!”
